When MountainView Church began in 2005, God placed a burden on our hearts for those who had been beaten up by life.  We’ve tried using some well-established ministries to a degree of success, but were frustrated that even Bible-based curriculum focused more on coping and less on lasting transformation.

This spring, we are introducing a new ministry called Real Freedom.  This isn’t a new and improved program or some re-tooling of the previous experience.  We are starting with a fresh approach based upon the statement Jesus made in John 8:36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” Everywhere you read in Scripture, the word “freedom” is stressed over and over.  Not recovery, but rather restoration. 

It is not God’s will that anyone be in bondage.  For those who are not Christians, Jesus came to give life…eternal life…and life more abundantly.  There are many Christians that have experienced salvation and the promise of heaven, but who sadly are still struggling with areas that keep them from walking in victory.   If Jesus wants to set us free and we’re not free, then somewhere there is a problem, there is something that we’ve not surrendered to Him.

Real Freedom gets to the heart of the matter.  The core of who we are is our spiritual soul, what the Bible calls “the heart of man”.  Whether it is someone consumed with drugs or alcohol, addition to porn, anger, co-dependency, etc, those things are still only symptoms of a spiritual heart problem.  Only a relationship with Jesus Christ can give us a new heart.  Only His power can deliver us from the chains that keep us from living a life filled with freedom.

Recovery tends to focus on the problem.  Recovery programs tend to focus on changing behavior.  You can change the behavior, but only Jesus can change the heart.  Real Freedom looks past the symptoms and addresses the root cause by examining the root causes keeping my in bondage. 

We get right to the heart of your relationship with Jesus Christ and your identity in Him.  The teaching is plain and right from God’s Word.  We help you to understand what is keeping you spiritually captive and how Jesus can set you free and how you continue to walk in grace and freedom.  Real Freedom is about being made whole, being set free to live the way God intended.
